A four-residue pineal peptide

Epithalon (also Epitalon or Epithalone) is Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly, synthesised as the minimal active sequence of epithalamin — a pineal extract developed by Vladimir Khavinson's group. It belongs to the same bioregulator class as the tissue-derived preparations, but unlike those it is a defined synthetic tetrapeptide rather than an extract.

The telomerase claim, stated precisely

The published finding is that Epithalon induces telomerase activity in human somatic cells in culture, permitting additional population doublings. Telomerase is normally silent in somatic cells, so an agent that switches it on would be genuinely notable.

Two things are worth stating alongside it. Most of this work originates from the group that developed the compound, and independent replication is limited. And telomerase induction is not uncomplicated even in principle — it is a hallmark of cancer cells as well as of extended replicative capacity, which is itself an active research question rather than an objection.

  • Telomerase activity and telomere length in cultured human fibroblasts

  • Pineal function and melatonin rhythm regulation with age

  • Antioxidant and lipid peroxidation measures

  • Lifespan studies in rodents and invertebrate models

  • Gene expression, the proposed mechanism common to the bioregulator class

Pinealon and Cartilax are the other bioregulators here and share the provenance caveat. FOXO4-DRI and MOTS-c approach ageing through senescence and mitochondrial signalling respectively.

Documentation and verification

Certificates of Analysis are published for tested products and batches. A certificate is a batch-specific record: it reports what was measured, by which method, on a stated date, against a batch identifier. It is evidence about the sample analysed at the time of analysis, and it is silent on attributes it does not list and on what has happened to the material since.

The batch number is the field that connects the document to a physical vial. Where the identifier on a vial does not appear on a certificate, the certificate does not describe that vial, however thorough the analysis behind it was. Batch records can be searched directly, and the guides below explain what each field establishes and what it does not.
